Half of all adults in the UK have received at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine. The government praises its vaccination program and calls it a “great success”.
A total of 660,276 people were vaccinated on Friday, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He received his injection at the same London hospital where he was treated in an intensive care unit last year after being infected with the coronavirus.
Almost 27 million people in the country have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
But the government has warned that the rate of vaccination will slow down in April. This is partly because a delivery from India has been delayed and partly because a batch of vaccines has to be retested in the UK.
Britain has been hit hard by the pandemic. About 4.3 million infections and more than 126,000 deaths have been recorded, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
