Twenty-four people were killed in the attack in Kabul on Saturday.
Twenty-four people were killed in a suicide attack near a training center in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Saturday. Most of the victims were students between the ages of 15 and 26, according to the Health Ministry.
More than 50 people were injured.
IS has assumed the act in the encrypted communication application Telegram, but without presenting evidence.
Several districts in western Kabul are inhabited by the Muslim Shiite minority Hazaras, who have been the target of attacks by the fundamentalist Sunni terror group IS on several occasions.
A spokesman for the Taliban said on Twitter that the movement was not behind the attack.
The Afghan government and NATO condemn the act.
The United States special envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, calls for a reduction in violence and calls for greater efforts in the peace process.
The attack came just hours after nine civilians were killed by a roadside bomb to the west of the capital.
