With the electoral wind at his back, Joe Biden delivered a speech from his hometown.

He did not proclaim victory, but he was sure of victory.

– I am not here to announce that we have won, but I am here to report that when the count is complete we believe we will win, he said.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Swedish time, Joe Biden took the podium in Wilmington, Delaware.

Hours earlier, various media outlets had given him the victory in Wisconsin and seconds after he spoke clearly, he was also declared the winner in Michigan.

Biden emerged victorious from the stage.

“Now, after a long night of counting, it is clear that we are winning enough states to reach the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency,” he said.

Then he weighed the words.

– I am not here to announce that we have won, but I am here to report that when the count is complete we believe we will win.

Earlier on Wednesday, Donald Trump frantically tweeted and, among other things, accused Democrats of trying to “steal the election.”

“Last night, I led, often clearly, in many key states, almost all democratically governed cases. Then, one by one, they began to magically disappear as sudden piles of ballots were counted, “he wrote in the afternoon in one of several tweets flagged as misleading by Twitter.

Joe Biden did not mention Trump by name in his speech and did not engage in controversy with the president’s hints of election fraud:

– The people rule here. It is only your will that determines who becomes President of the United States.

Biden praised voters who voted in record numbers despite the pandemic.

– More Americans have voted than ever in American history. More than 150 million people cast their votes. I think it is extraordinary.

He also mentioned the division of the country and said that “we must stop treating our opponents as enemies.”

– We are not enemies. What unites us as Americans is much stronger than anything that can separate us. We campaign as Democrats, but I will rule as an American.

An hour after Biden’s speech, Trump made new appearances on Twitter. He was declared the winner in Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina. In more vague terms, he also claimed victory in Michigan and made allegations of ballot fraud.

“For electoral reasons, we have proclaimed victory in Pennsylvania (which does not allow legal observers), Georgia, North Carolina, all of which have GREAT Trump leadership. In addition, we hereby declare victory in Michigan, if the numerous reports of ballots cast secretly are true ”.
