The boy was arrested and detained on Monday, then reasonably suspected of murder. But during the investigation, suspicions have been reinforced and the 16-year-old’s arrest is now being requested for probable cause, according to prosecutor Maria Edström.
The arrest hearing will be held Thursday morning.
Found seriously injured
It was on Thursday night that a 16-year-old boy was found seriously injured in the Nyfors district of Eskilstuna. He later died from his injuries.
The boy was shot and killed 400 meters from his home, just days before he celebrated his 17th birthday.
– It is deplorable, but not very surprising as we have seen that it is decreasing with age, Thomas Karlsson, head of the investigation section in the Södermanland police area, said that a 16-year-old is suspected of shooting another of 16.
Connected with criminals
He has also said that the two 16-year-olds may be linked to criminal constellations, but that nothing can be said about how strong those links are.
Did they both have connections to the same constellation?
– It is not possible to answer. Constellations change over time, days can pass between friendship and enmity.
According to Aftonbladet, the arrested 16-year-old had previously acted as a “serious offender running boy.”
