Modo won the shots 21-5 superior in the first period against Leksand, but it was Dala’s team that scored the only goal of the period when Wilma Johansson hit a post again in the power play.

But mastering Modo would eventually pay off.

During intermission, they tied when Lina Ljungblom scored her fifth goal of the season, before Daniela Pejsova completed her turn early in the third when she put it 2-1 from close range after four minutes of play.

Leksand ran for the equalizer but struggled to create clear scoring chances. And when Lore Baudrit made it 3-1 in the open goal 1.5 minutes from the end of full time, it was all over.

Full fight

But perhaps it was the final signal scenes that received the most attention after this match.

The puck was brought down by Modo goalkeeper Klara Peslarova when Tuva Kandell on Leksand delivered a cut, which would turn out to be the start of a commotion behind the Modo box and a full fight.

All delivered in several penalty games and a total of 154 minutes of expulsion from the final stages.

The victory means that Modo creates a safe margin to the qualifying places and can look up the table. Leksand, in turn, continues below the line with five points to safe ground.
