On August 20, the police were alerted that a violent crime had been committed in the Huskvarna municipal park. Later that night, news came that a 17-year-old had died after being stabbed.
At the beginning of the investigation, a man in his 20s was arrested and detained on suspicion of involvement in the fatal assault. However, he was released earlier this week.
– Suspicions against him remain. But the reason he was released is that I make the assessment that the suspicions against him have weakened, says House Attorney Adam Rullman.
Previously, another man was also arrested in the case. You are now completely removed from the investigation.
14 years in focus
Instead, the focus is on the third person, a 14-year-old boy, who is also under investigation for his involvement in the murder.
– The consequence is that, instead, suspicions have been significantly strengthened against minors, says Adam Rullman.
A person under the age of 15 cannot be arrested, detained or sentenced. Instead, the social authorities take care of him.
P4 Jönköping reports that the child is well known to social services. In total, there are eleven social investigations since the child was very young.
Figures from previous murder investigation
Two years ago, another notable murder took place in Jönköping, when the EU migrant “Gica” was beaten to death with a road cone and a lifebuoy. The now suspected child, who was twelve years old at the time, was on the sidelines of that investigation, reports P4 Jönköping.
On the other hand, later it can be relevant with a so-called evidentiary action where a court can take a position on the suspicions and try to clarify what happened.
– It’s too early to talk. This is the result that exists if you want to get some kind of decision. But that ball is not entirely in my hands, says Adam Rullman.
The Social Welfare Board may request a trial action, among others, but as the investigation is still ongoing, the issue has not yet been raised.
