Benson eventually survived his grueling encounter with Lewis. But, the role of the actor in the shooting of the episode turned out to be a lot.

“It was, without a doubt, the most difficult episode I’ve ever shot in 15 years, and it was the opposite of anything I’ve ever done,” Hargitt said on the Today show before the episode aired in 2013. “I have to tell you, after 15 years, to be nervous and scared and excited to go to work – that’s a great thing.”

He faced challenges as an artist. “When you’re acting, your body doesn’t know the difference between acting or being in reality.”

“I think you’re going to play a pretty-what-if game (to capture the scene),” he added. “It’s just about believing it. I think that’s why you study your whole life to stay focused and present. “

Hargita said she feels obligated to ‘survive real life’.

Hargate said her experience with survivors of sexual assault through her hilarious heart foundation meant she felt a responsibility to bring honesty to the scene.

“[F]Or my, with the hilarious heart that I do, I have had the opportunity and joy to work with so many real-life survivors that I know their stories. Set The set is low to keep the bar real and honest about how scary it will be. ”

In an interview with The Winto in 2014 where he discussed the episode, Hargitt said he wanted to challenge assumptions about being sexually assaulted.

“Violence happens to anyone. I want to show her how horrible it is. There’s an archaic belief system about sexual violence – put the blame on what she wears, she was drunk, she was a nice guy, she’s a slut. “A lot of things,” she said. “But if you’re like me – a bad ass, a gunman, a fearless lioness – and she could be sexually assaulted, that says something.”
