  • On Tuesday, the body of technology businessman Fahim Saleh, 33, was found at his Manhattan home.
  • The head and limbs were removed, the New York Police Department told Business Insider, and an electric saw was found near the body. A New York police spokesman earlier this week said it “looks like a professional job.”
  • On Friday, the New York Times reported that Saleh’s aide Tyrese Devon Haspil, 21, was arrested and is expected to be charged with second-degree murder and other crimes.

Early Friday morning, Tyrese Devon Haspil, 21, was arrested as a suspect in the murder of tech businessman Fahim Saleh, 33, according to the New York Times.

Saleh’s body was found in his $ 2.5 million Manhattan condo on Tuesday in what police described as a horrible scene: his head and limbs were removed, a New York Police Department spokesman told Business Insider, and an electric saw was found near the body still plugged into the wall.

In video surveillance footage, a masked man in a suit was seen entering the elevator with Saleh in his building the day before his body was discovered.

“It shows the victim getting on the elevator on Monday, quickly followed by a second man, dressed in a suit, wearing gloves, a hat, and a face mask,” the New York Daily News reported.

Early Friday morning, Saleh’s former personal assistant Tyrese Devon Haspil was taken into custody of the New York Police on suspicion of the murder, the New York Times reported.

The reason, according to the NYT report, was financial: Saleh found that Hapsil “had stolen tens of thousands of dollars from him.” The two were said to have drawn up a payment plan, but that is still considered the primary motivation.

Detectives who spoke to the NYT detailed how they suspect the murder occurred:

  • The killer, dressed in a three-piece suit and mask, entered the building’s elevator with Saleh on Monday, July 13.
  • Using a Taser, the killer pinned Saleh as he exited the elevator directly to his apartment.
  • The killer followed Saleh out of the elevator and stabbed him multiple times.
  • The next day, the killer returned to the Saleh condo to dismember the body and clean it.
  • While doing so, Saleh’s sister came to the building and called her apartment, causing the killer to flee from a different exit.

Representatives of the New York Police Department declined to comment on the report.
