Surely a Corvette C8 has no chance against a Dodge Demon in a straight line, right?

If you want a car that accelerates at alarming speeds, it’s easy to get caught up in the idea that power is the most important factor. However, as this video of Throttle house shows, power is nothing without grip.

The YouTubers recently had a chance to face a 2020 Corvette Stingray against a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. These cars are among the most exciting and thrilling that have been launched in the US in recent years, and while they both deliver excellent performance, they deliver their performance in very different ways.

The Demon is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that pumps 840 hp and 770 lb-ft (1,042 Nm) of torque. Dodge designed the Limited Edition Challenger for the sole purpose of breaking into the quarter mile; therefore, when running in pristine condition and on a prepared drag strip, the muscle car can fire at 60 mph (96 km / h) in just 2.3 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph (225 km / h), which makes it one of the fastest cars for sale.

In comparison, the Corvette C8 uses a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 with 495 hp, but, unlike the Demon, it has a mid-engine, which means it has more weight on the rear wheels and doesn’t suffer from traction problems than the Demon has.

In theory, with such a huge power advantage, the Demon should be at the top of this race. So did he?
