Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized Tuesday for a possible infection, according to a court spokeswoman.

The 87-year-old judge received treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after experiencing fever and chills. He underwent a procedure to clean a bile duct stent and will remain in the hospital for “a few days,” court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg said in a statement.

“The judge is resting comfortably and will remain in the hospital for a few days to receive intravenous antibiotic treatment,” he said.

Ginsburg, the longest-serving Supreme Court judge, has suffered from a number of health problems in recent years. In January, he said he was “cancer free” after undergoing treatment for what was likely pancreatic cancer last year.

The year before, he underwent treatment for cancerous growths in his lungs.

Ginsburg and the rest of the court just wrapped up a series of jobs, ruling on President Donald Trump’s financial records, LGBTQ rights, abortion rights, and the president’s efforts to shut down the Obama-era program to protect the dreamers of deportation, among other issues, in a period of two weeks.

President Bill Clinton appointed Ginsburg, a staunch liberal, to the highest court in the United States in 1993. The court currently has a conservative 5-4 majority, though it hindered some of Republican Trump’s priorities in his recent decisions, which provoked the president’s anger.
