Support Miocic, Daniel Cormier, Sean O’Malley lead medical suspensions to UFC 252

A five-round fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier settled their three-year rivalry, but no heavyweight left UFC 252 unmanned.

On Monday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced the medical suspensions of the card after Miocic Cormier existed by unanimous decision to close the trilogy.

After suffering a brutal eye poke during the fight, Cormier later commented that he could not see for many of the last two rounds. He said following a torn cornea and although Cormier has only confirmed his retirement, he will face a potentially long-term suspension if he decides to compete again.

Cormier must have had his left eye wiped out by an ophthalmologist, or he will stay for six months until February 12, 2021.

Miocic should also be checked by an eye specialist after he had previously also suffered in the fight with an eye pox. After her rematch in 2019, Miocic had to undergo surgery to repair a torn retina due to eye pains prior to his fourth-round TKO victory over Cormier.

Miocic must now see a retinal specialist to get clearance on his left eye before he will be removed to compete again.

Meanwhile, Sean O’Malley is also facing a potentially lengthy suspension after injuring one leg during his fight with Marlon “Chito” Vera. Just two minutes into the fight, O’Malley began to favor his right leg and rehearsals showed Vera connecting with a kick that may have done the damage.

However, O’Malley hung noticeably on his leg until he finally fell to the floor where Vera finished him off with strikes before the opening round ended.

Now the rising star of the bantam weight will have to get clearance from an orthopedic doctor on his right ankle, then he will be lifted for six months until February 12, 2021.
