Digital video game sales have reached an all-time high this year. Last week, for example, FIFA 21Digital sales in the UK outsource physical purchases for the first time.
Now, according to the September SuperData monthly report, Super Mario 3D All Stars A new digital launch for Mario Games on the Nintendo Switch has set a sales record.
The report said 1.8 million digital copies were sold in the early days of the game – meaning it surpassed its digital sales. Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Maker 2 And Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
No other information was provided, but we believe the sale is partial. Fueled by Nostalgia and this is a “limited time” release that Nintendo says will be removed from Eshop in late March next year.
Earlier this week, NPD’s industry analyst, Matt Pistella, shared his theory about what could happen to each of these games in the 3D All-Stars collection after this date:
“I don’t think these games will disappear, like what happened to the old school Disney vault. But I think there may be additional flexibility and purchase options. For example, à la carte shopping options on eShop. “
He also noted that strong sales and demand for 3D-L-Stars should give Nintendo “extra confidence in bringing other legacy titles” to its new platform.
