We moderate comments. Our goal is to provide significant commentary for general readers. By examining submissions, we provide a space where readers can share intelligent and knowledgeable comment that enhances the quality of our news and information.
While most comments will be posted if they are on topic and not offensive, moderate decisions are subjective. We will make them as carefully and consistently as possible. Due to the proportion of readers’ comments, we cannot review individual moderation decisions with readers.
We evaluate the comments of the considerations which present a variety of scenes that quickly and politely make their point. We try to protect discussions from repeated comments by the same readers or different readers.
We follow the same standards for taste as a daily newspaper. Some of the things we will not tolerate: personal assault, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including letters followed by explosives and dashes), commercial promotions, ersongo, incompatibility, heresy, and shitting. Do not include URLs on web sites.
We do not edit comments. They are either valid or deleted. We reserve the right to edit quotes or excerpted comments in the article. In this case, we can fix spellings and punctuation.
We welcome strict opinions and criticisms of our work, but we do not want comments to be overwhelmed by the discussion of our policies and we will moderate accordingly.
We appreciate it when readers and people quoted in articles and blog posts point out factual or weighty errors and examine all statements. But these suggestions should be sent by e-mail. In order not to distract other readers, we will not publish comments that suggest improvements. Instead, the blog post or article will be modified.
