Sunday Cup race in Texas: start time, TV channel, forecast

Kyle Busch recovered from a disqualification earlier in the day in the Xfinity Series to dominate and win the Saturday Night Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Busch was disqualified after winning the Xfinity race because the height of his car was too low. But everything went well after winning the Truck race, his best 59th win.

It was Busch’s fifth victory in a truck in Texas. It was also his fifth and last start in a truck this season, winning three of them (the others being Las Vegas and Homestead).

“Technically, I haven’t won yet, so push it over the limits,” Busch joked to FS1 after the race, but before the post-race inspection, still smart by the Xfinity DQ.

WHO HAD A GOOD CAREER: Matt Crafton struggled throughout the race with alternator and battery problems that included turning off his air conditioning, but still managed to finish third, matching his best finish of the season. “It was probably the hottest thing I’ve ever been in a race car without any fan. It was exhausting without a doubt, ”said Crafton.

WHO HAD A BAD CAREER: Todd Gilliland was battling Ben Rhodes for fifth with 16 laps to go when they made contact, sending Gilliland to the wall and out of the race, finishing 27th and ending a streak of five consecutive top-10 finishes.

BE UNABLE: Johnny Sauter’s engine exploded with less than 20 laps remaining and ninth in Stage 2, leaving him with 33rd place. “I thought we were going to win this race tonight, I’m telling you,” Sauter said on his team radio as he drove his truck to the garage. The problem could play a role in Sauter’s hopes of making the playoffs: He made it to Saturday’s race in 10th and last place in the playoffs and started 12, 22 points now below the cut line.

WHATS NEXT: Double Truck Series Weekend at Kansas Speedway: Friday, July 24 (7pm ET) and Saturday, July 25 (1:30 pm ET), both will be televised on FS1.
