Rally had caused concern
Health experts were worried that Sturgis’ motorcycle rally could be a “super spreader” event this year. The 10-day mass rally typically draws crowds of more than 500,000 people from across the country, including coronavirus hotspots.
Many of those present did not follow health guidelines such as wearing masks and keeping their distance from others, as seen at a concert for the rock band Smash Mouth.
“There are people all over America who have been locked up for months and months,” Daniel Ainslie, the city manager, told CNN last week. “That we’re always heard from people saying it does not matter, they’re coming to Sturgis. So with the decision, the council finally decided that it was really for the community to be prepared for the extra people we’ll end up with. have. “
