Stunning 101 Kickstarter backers hit with customs fees and handling fees

Wonderful 101

The Wonderful 101: Remastered The Kickstarter campaign was a great success, but it is true that the launch of the game (both digitally and physically) has not been so easy. More recently, sponsors located in the UK have reported import duties of approximately £ 17.00 applied to them.

An email we received from Nintendo Life user farmer_humpf informed us of how they had received a note from Royal Mail telling them that their copy of The Wonderful 101: Remastered would not be delivered due to a £ “unpaid customs and handling fee” 16.82.

If I pay this fee, I will have paid over £ 50 for a late copy of the game. I could have ordered the BASE game in the UK for £ 32.

This is also not an isolated case. If you take a look at the Kickstarter comment page for the game, you’ll see similar complaints: Many backers also mention how they paid a premium price, waited months, and could have purchased the game much earlier (and cheaper) if they didn’t endorse the campaign.

Many sponsors at Kickstarter believe this is the fault of platinum and have pointed out how they “failed to mention” import fees.

According to the Kickstarter Support section, this should be made clear in the reward description and in the project description. Sponsors in other parts of Europe also reported that they were charged a similar fee.
