As of 6:40 pm on Sunday, more than 195,000 DTE customers are without electricity. The outage is spread over a large number of metros in Detroit near West Bloomfield.

A tree fell under a utility pole when a fire broke out on Atkins Drive in Troy. The video can be seen below.

DTE has more than 370 crew working to restore power around southeastern Michigan.

Auckland County seems to be the hardest hit in the area.

D.T.E. Ryan Stowe said Metro Detroit has about 1,000 down power lines.

“We’re planning our restoration and we’ve got some crews from outside the state,” Stowe said.

“Heavy winds and heavy rains have so far damaged extensive trees in DTE’s service area and more than 1,000 down power lines. DTE crews are assessing damage in areas, and making repairs and restoring power, where it is safe to do so. Continuous weather – and additional disasters – are expected to continue this evening, ”officials said in a statement Sunday afternoon.

“We understand how difficult it is to be without power and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.” “Our crew is working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to affected customers and we will not stop working twenty-four hours until all outages have been resolved.”

To help keep customers and their employees healthy during an epidemic, if you see crews working in your neighborhood, please stay at least six feet away. PLEASE NOTE: Estimates for restoring your power may take several hours to prepare and crews may arrive at the scene and make a full assessment of device damage.
