‘Thank you very much for your continued support’

Talk on Twitter, Ono thanks fans and the FGC for supporting him through his full term with Capcom, referring to the “good times, bad times and non-existent times” he experienced in producing the Street Fighter franchise. “My heart is full of appreciation for those players who have given warm and friendly support to the market,” said Ono, concluding his statement with his trademark “Shoryuken!” battle cry.

Originally joining Capcom as a sound producer in the early 1990s, Ono worked with franchises such as Mega Man, Muscle Bomber, Breath of Fire, en Devil May Cry, before moving on to more managerial roles on titles Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, Dead Rising, Shadow of Rome, en Capcom Fighting Jam.

Essentially considered a “dead franchise” by Capcom, Ono praised hard for Street Fighter IV and his “back to basics” theoretically, with the sequel launching to incredible success. Ono has since been the spearhead for the flagship combat franchise, overseeing the production of mainline sequels, spin-offs such as Street Fighter x Tekken, de Street Fighter: Resurrection web series, and the Capcom Pro-Tour esports competition.
