Stonehenge of Florida pleads for Epic Games over Coral Castle

The company that owns the Stonehenge of Florida – also called Coral Castle – goes into business Fortnite developer Epic Games for using the name in its new season.

Coral Castle, located in Florida, is a rock garden that is said to have been built by a man named Ed Leedskalnin from 1923 to 1951. It is now run as a museum, located on the South Dixie Highway in Miami, where the patrons can walk in the coral stone garden. According to the museum, it is often known as ‘Florida’s Stonehenge.’ The museum is currently closed, according to its website, but tickets typically cost between $ 8 to $ 18.

Epic Games added a virtual Coral Castle, a stone structure that is essentially Atlantis, in its new Fortnite season. Players can find it north of Sweaty Sands, and it is very beautiful. However, the people who run the museum are not happy about it. Coral Castle filed a lawsuit in Miami on Thursday. Coral Castle, Inc. took the name with him. But litigants think that the version of Epic Games also has other things in common, such as “nautical / beach motifs, castle structures, partition walls and stone objects.” The lawsuit also claims that both the real Coral Castle and virtual Coral Castle “evoke the feeling of a centuries-old mysterious place.” They said the infringement was clearly a violation of Coral Castle’s trademark.

Coral Castle is suing the court for monetary damages related to the confusion between the two, and for using the trademark without permission. Lawyers for the museum cite the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.

As you may have heard, Epic Games is currently also being embraced in another, larger piece of litigation. On Wednesday, Epic customized its payment processing system for Android and iOS players, allowing users to bypass these systems from storefronts. In response, both Google and Apple were removed Fortnite from their stores. Epic Games immediately filed two lawsuits against the companies, with indications of anti-trusts.

Fortnite Players can still play their games on mobile devices, but they can not update the game further.
