Stevie Nicks pays emotional tribute to Peter Green: “You changed our lives”

Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac has paid tribute to the band’s late co-founder Peter Green, saying, “You changed our lives.”

Green, who founded the band alongside Mick Fleetwood in 1967, died yesterday (July 25), and his family confirmed the news in a statement.

“I am sorry to hear of the passing of Peter Green,” Nicks wrote in a statement posted on Twitter. “What I regret the most is that I was never able to share the stage with him. I always waited in my heart for it to happen.

When I first listened to all the Fleetwood Mac records, I was very impressed by playing his guitar. It was one of the reasons I was excited to join the band. His legacy will live forever in Rock n Roll history books.

At first it was Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac and I thank you Peter Green for that. You changed our lives …

The band’s co-founder, drummer Mick Fleetwood, also paid a sincere tribute to Green, recounting Rolling Stone: “For me, and for every past and present member of Fleetwood Mac, losing Peter Green is monumental.

“Peter was the man who started the Fleetwood Mac band along with John McVie and Jeremy Spencer. No one has entered the ranks of Fleetwood Mac without reverence for Peter Green and his talents, and the fact that music must shine and be delivered with unwavering passion!

In announcing Green’s death, the guitarist’s family wrote: “It is with great sadness that Peter Green’s family announces his death this weekend, quietly in his sleep. Another statement will be provided in the coming days.
