According to Sheriff Sharon, the crash caused a large pit to fall in a heavily forested area in the village of Corfu and scattered the wreckage for hundreds of yards.

According to Sharon, the Singa engine plane, the Sokata TBM-700, was en route from Manchester, New Hampshire to Buffalo Airport.
Ross Salino’s attorney, Terry Kors, told CNN-affiliated News Spectrum that the plane was registered with Steve Barnes and that Barnes was a registered pilot.
