As promised, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert returned Monday night at the beautiful, historic Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway and W 54th in Manhattan. The show has not exactly returned to its home base, leaving it on March 12 with the onset of the caronavirus quarantine, but instead has set up a four-story replication shop in Stephen Colbert’s office, now equipped with its old office, his new hairstyle, and a beautiful faux skyline. However, it’s definitely closer to normal, plus a hell of a lot easier for the show’s production staff to work with.
‘Welcome to a late show. I’m your host Stephen Colbert. Still, ‘Colbert announces, noting that he’s coming out of the house late at night five months after his broadcast. “As much as it’s fun to see my crew here in the building, I want to thank my wife and children again, for everything they did to produce the show while I was at home,” he says. ‘I just want to say, the last five months have been like a family for me. Thank you. I mean that. ”
