The Pittsburgh Steelers have three players for a tryout this week and that list includes two players who are already very familiar with the team.
In an effort with the Steelers this week, linebacker Christian Kuntz, kicker Brandon Wright and kicker Matthew Wright are out, according to the NFL transaction sheet.
Kuntz had previously spent time with the Stats and has been out for a few tryouts ever since. He played with the Steelers in the 2019 preseason.
Matthew Wright was also with the Steelers during the pre-2019 season but failed to make the 53-man roster. He was originally signed by Steelers in 2019 as a free agent who did not leave Central Florida.
As for Brandon Wright, he was originally signed by the Jasonville Jaguars earlier this year as an undisclosed free agent from Georgia State, where he was kicked and sentenced. He kicked off a game for the Jaguars after spending time on his practice team earlier this season but suffered a groin injury on the reserve / injured list.
No Steelers punters or kickers are currently listed as hurt eaters or sick so the Steelers are doing their due diligence this week in an emergency. It should also be noted that Kuntz can also do a long snap if necessary.
