Steelers injury update after practice Saturday night

On Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off the game uniforms for an atmospheric practice under the lights at Heinz Field. It was not quite what fans are used to, as none of them could attend, but having it aired for fans to watch added a level of interaction for Steeler Nation.

But with every exercise that goes close to high speed, there guys will be cut up. After practice, head coach Mike Tomlin noted that several players had some minor injuries during practice and would be evaluated.

The injured players were linebacker Robert Spillane (finger), running Wendell Smallwood (shoulder), long snapper Kam Canaday (knee) and defensive tackle Chris Wormley (shoulder).

The only injury of note here is Canaday. Finding a good long snapper is no easy task and Canaday is great at his job. No one wants to see the Steelers deal with a back-up long snapper at the start of the season, so of all the injuries on this list, this one is one to keep an eye on.

In an extra bit of news about injuries, guard Kevin Dotson missed practice on Saturday with his knee injury, but he was on the sidelines without a brace, which is great news.
