State places Tazewell County on COVID-19 warning list


UPDATE (2:45 pm) Tazewell County reported 29 more confirmed COVID-19 infections on Friday, and the province’s total increased to 476.

TAZEWELL COUNTY (WEEK) – Tazewell County is one of 13 counties in the state to be elevated to COVID-19 warning status, the Illinois Department of Public Health said Friday.

A province enters a warning level if two or more risk indicators go up. For Tazewell, state health officials said COVID infections have increased to 72 per 100,000 people. The target is less than 50 per 100,000.

Also, the Department of Health said that the weekly number of visits to emergency rooms for COVID-19-like diseases has increased by 2.5%, as these numbers should be stable if decreasing on a weekly basis.

“These metrics are intended to be used for awareness at the local level to help local leaders, businesses, local health departments and the public make informed decisions about personal and family gatherings, as well as what activities they choose to do,” the health department said. in a news release.

Cass, Coles, Grundy, Iroquois, Jackson, Monroe, Perry, Saline, St. Clair, Union, Williamson, Winnebago are also on the warning list.
