The Connecticut Department of Public Health has issued a COVID-19 warning to the city of Danbury following a recent spike in coronavirus cases.
The city reported 44 new cases of coronavirus since Thursday, according to Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton.
Between August 2 and 20, Danbury registered at least 178 new COVID-19 cases, according to the DPH.
The CT DPH said the warning comes after a significant increase in cases at Danbury in the last two weeks. They said most of the outbreak is related to recent domestic and international travel.
Residents are asked to stay home, avoid unnecessary outings, limit indoor meetings to only those where you live, and refrain from attending large church services or outside meetings, the DPH said.
“This is a serious outbreak in Danbury and we really need an approach from all hands on deck. We need everyone in Danbury to take extreme precautionary measures, “said Acting DPH Commissioner Deidre S. Gifford. be known and stay home for 10 days if you test positive. “
