Stadia 2.42 is preparing to add more state shares to the captures

Since its inception, Google has argued that Stadia can enable features that are not possible on non-cloud platforms. One of the features, Stat Share, is set to expand directly into Stadia’s screenshot and video capture capabilities.

About APK Insight: In this ‘APK Insight’ post, we have dismantled the latest version of the app that Google uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (in the case of Android apps, called APKs), we are able to see different lines of code within that hint at potential future features. Keep in mind that Google may or may not ship these features, and our interpretation of what it is may be incomplete. We will try to complete it, which is close to completion, however, showing them how they will look in case they ship. With that in mind, read on.

Share the state in screenshots

Today at Stadia, you can use the St Facial Stadia Controller to take full quality screenshots and videos on the server side instead of capturing your stream, which will have more compression artifacts. Currently, the only way to share those captures is to download them from Stadia’s web application, but this more direct way of sharing has been working quietly for some time.

In studia for Android version 2.42, we think Google has found a way to connect state share – a feature that lets you jump to a special place in a studia game – directly in the screenshots and videos captured by Stadia.

It is too early to say exactly how games will use this capability, but using the buyer – a studia specific way of creating games and playing games created by others, and currently, the only game / app supporting state share – as a baseline, we envision Let’s say that if you take a screenshot or video of a particular game like Prop Hunt in Creta, then it looks like Capture will be able to use the state share link to jump directly into Crop in Prop Hunt.

This is one of the many ways Google is working to improve Captures, as Stadia pointed out to be able to include your voice in 2.36 recorded video clips.

Third-party controller setup guide

Right now, in the Stadia app for Android, the controller button in the top-right corner is just to launch the new Stadia controller on your network or connect it to your phone. With Stadia 2.42, it looks like Google, Xbox or PlayStation Controller is developing a detailed connection guide to make Stadia easier to play on Android.

Specifically, the Stadia includes instructions for connecting the official “Xbox Wireless Controller” via Bluetooth or USB and MicroSt’s “Xbox Adaptive Controller” as well as Sony’s Dual Shock 4.

Connect your Xbox wireless controller using Bluetooth or a compatible USB cable.

To use Bluetooth, activate paired mode by pressing and holding the paired button for 3 seconds.

Connect your Dual Shock 4 controller using Bluetooth or a compatible micro-USB cable.

On your device, go to Bluetooth settings and turn on Bluetooth. Scan for new devices and then select your controller.

Other controllers or gamepads can also work with Stadia by connecting via Bluetooth or USB. Consult your device manufacturer for gamepad compatibility.

Messaging (again)

For months now, we’ve been watching as Google continues to work on adding messaging capabilities to the Stadia app, including a board boarding process to introduce players to send messages. With Stadia ૨.42૨, we’ll see more texts pointing to Google, which is close to bringing the feature.

Messages are now available

We’ve added messaging to Stadia

Now you can quickly chat with your friends and other players about your next game session and keep the fun on all your screens.

Anyone can send you messages, but you can choose whose messages are visible to you.

Stadia Pro without payment method

According to him today, in order to sign up for a free trial of Stadia Pro, you need to give Google a credit card or other type of payment that will be charged once you have completed the trial if you do not choose to cancel. To help potential players try out Stadia Pro without every commitment – which can be especially important, as many aren’t sure if their connection is good enough for game streaming – Google seems to have devised a way to try out Stadia Stadia. Pro without a credit card.

Throughout the application’s code, we see references to “flops” trials, which we assume are “short of payment form (FOP) short” for a free trial. In the text below, it looks like these “fopless” trials will enjoy the Stadia Pro for a short time before you need to “add a later payment method” to unlock the rest of the normal 30-day trial. Unfortunately, we do not know how long these tests will last, as the text below fills in with the length of time.
