SPOKANE, Wash. – Another 26 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Spokane County on Saturday, marking a slight decrease in reported cases daily compared to the past few days.
It is something that health officials fear will not last until the weekend of July 4.
Spokane County topped 1,500 confirmed cases Friday, when 59 more people tested positive for the virus overnight.
Governor Inslee has expressed concern about the recent increase in cases, saying Spokane is “on the verge of a very serious situation.”
Health officials have also expressed fear of a spike in post-vacation cases.
“If you really want to be a patriot, the most patriotic thing you can do right now is wear a mask and protect others in the community,” said Dr. Dan Getz, medical director of Providence Health.
As of Saturday, 17 people in Spokane County are hospitalized. Sunday will be a week since it was reported that someone died from the virus.
