SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane is close to 5,000 COVID-19 infections, but the daily rate is slowly dropping to levels not seen since June.
According to the Spokane Regional Health District, 18 people have been testing positive for the coronavirus since Monday – the lowest number of daily cases since June 21. Overall, 4,869 people tested positive for the virus and 105 died – although the State Department of Health reported 114 deaths.
Along with that, the province’s positivity figures, also known as R-number or R-note, have also decreased, and dropped from more than 200 to just under 170. Health officials advise that the education of persons only starts again if that number is below 75 fell.
This comes after several record spikes of infections over the course of July, and a statewide mask mandate intended to confirm those figures.
There are currently 47 people in the hospital, including 34 Spokane residents.
