Spirit airline employees were injured in a fight over a delayed flight in Florida

According to a report, three employees of the Spirit airline were mistreated in a wild hand-to-hand combat at a South Florida airport during a delayed flight.

The video-captured fight broke out on Tuesday night at a gate for a flight to Philadelphia from Fort Lauderdale International Airport, the WPLG news station reported.

Employees suffered minor injuries when three passengers “became combative after a delayed flight,” the airline said.

In the video, several women were seen throwing items at workers before going behind the counter and attacking at least one of the employees.

Items directed at employees included telephones, shoes, filled water bottles, metal signs and fast food, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Tymaya Wright, 20, Danaysha Dixon, 22, and Keira Ferguson, 21, were detained on battery charges in connection with the violent encounter, authorities said.

Wright also faces an additional charge for allegedly picking up the phone of a Spirit employee.

The trio declined to comment on the episode, other than saying they were trying to get home to Philadelphia, according to WPLG.

Spirit released a statement Wednesday praising its employees for their “professionalism and prompt action.”

“This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place at airports or any other place of business,” the airline said. “We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind.”
