Sources – Robert Blazers finalizing Robert Cuewington’s trade for Trevor Ariza, Rockets

Robert Cuewington, a 2020 first-round pick and first-round pick of 2021, is finalizing the business of sending Portland to Treland Arizona, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnorsky.

The Blazers are sending Houston the 16th pick in the NBA Draft on Wednesday and the second-round pick in the second round, sources said. The deal could not be finalized after Wednesday’s draft.

Cowington was part of a four-team, 12-player deal that brought Clint Capella to the Atlanta Hawks in February. He came from Minnesota, one of the NBA’s most traded in nearly 20 years, in which the Timberwolves won two first-round picks, including Houston’s 2020 pick, which he led to defender Malik Beasley and forward to the Denver Nuggets for Juan Hernangomez. .

The 6-foot-7 Cuewington has become one of the NBA’s top defenders and has averaged 12.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in his seven NBA seasons with three teams.

Ariza, 35, came up with a blazer in February as part of a trade with Sacramento and started each of her 21 games for Portland, averaging 11 points, 4.8 rebounds and one steal. He shot 49% off the floor, including 40% on 3% pointers. For his career, Ariza has averaged 10.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 16 seasons.

Ariza chose to attend the Florida Restart of the NBA season, instead committing to a month-long window with her young son.
