Activision has had a bit of an odd history with the Switch. They support the platform, but so far that requires a lot of patience from Nintendo fans. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy finally joined the Switch, and the same goes for the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Could the same thing happen with Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s about time? We are not 100% sure, but we do have the smallest disc of hope.
The official website for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time does not mention Switch on the surface, but if you dig deeper, there’s a tidbit hidden in the source code. In the ‘Platforms’ section of the site, the source code is actually called Switch. If fully implemented, it would allow you to click on the drop down menu on the web page to select Switch as a digital purchase option.
Normally I would say this does not mean anything, but this very kind of thing has come up in the past with Activision sites. Sometimes it actually pointed to Switch releases, as was the case with the above mentioned Crash and Spyro games. It also happened with a Call of Duty title, which apparently never came to Switch.
Most likely, this bit of source code is just the remnants of a template that web developers use to build a site, and they just put it in there. That said, we certainly hope it is an indicator of something to come down the road.
