Actor Sooraj Pancholi has lodged a complaint with Mumbai police over him in connection with the case of the death of fellow actor Sushant Singh Rajput, an official said on Tuesday.
In his complaint filed at the Versova police station on Monday night, Pancholi said he was abused on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, by linking to Rajput’s death, he said.
“We have received an application from Sooraj Pancholi and an investigation is underway,” said senior inspector Raghvendra Thakur of Versova police.
So far no offense has been registered, the official said. There have been some recent posts on social media, screenshots and deviant content all linking Pancholi to the deaths of Rajput and the former manager of the latest Disha Salian.
Pancholi’s mother Zarina Wahab previously denied rumors linking her son to Rajput’s death. Rajput, 34, was found dead in his apartment in suburb of Bandra on June 14.
Salian, 28, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a high-rise building in Malad area here on June 8, according to police.
Mumbai police have so far recorded statements of more than 50 people, including the sisters of Rajput, his friend and actress Rhea Chakraborty and some other film personalities in connection with his death. Rajput’s father KK Singh lodged a complaint with Patna police against Chakraborty and her family on July 25, accusing her of killing the actor.

The CBI re-registered this FIR last week as a fresh case and named as accused the same people.
Singh also alleged financial irregularities in his son’s bank accounts.
The enforcement board has questioned Chakraborty, Rajput’s friend and roommate Siddharth Pithani, the late manager’s business manager Shruti Modi and some other people in connection with a money laundering case linked to his death.
