With PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on the horizon, you may be thinking that now is the right time to start watching a sleek new TV. But with so many new technologies to consider, what will be the best for your new console? Two of Sony’s new TVs promise to make things simple.
At least it is with its own range of Bravia televisions, with two new models specifically marked as “Ready for PlayStation 5”. Both the Bravia Z90H and Z8H will be the first in the Bravia series to carry this label, ensuring that your Sony gaming console will make full use of its special features.
But what exactly are those characteristics? Many are standards that come with HDMI 2.1, a new format for your HDMI cables that allows them to deliver much more information through compatible ports. This allows 120 frames per second at full 4K resolution, which is not possible on the same HDMI cables you are using on your current consoles.
It also enables low latency mode, which the PS5 can automatically activate on an HDMI 2.1 compatible display. These two new Bravia sets include it, allowing you to play your games with the lowest possible latency without having to first get into the settings menu.
The Z90H will be limited to 4K, and unfortunately it doesn’t have a 120Hz panel for you to use. The more expensive Z8H boosts things up to 8K for native resolution, but it also boasts 120Hz to 4K support, perfect for the PS5, which will support both.
Sony has yet to announce a release date or price for the PS5, but the console is still expected to launch sometime this holiday season. Check out our pre-order guide to stay updated on when you can place your order.
