  • Sony has launched a registration page that lets you move to the front of the PlayStation 5 queue in the US.
  • If you are selected, you will get to order one system.
  • You are not guaranteed a place, and you need to act fast.

Sony has not yet taken any pre-orders for PlayStation 5, but you now have a chance to jump to the front of the line, if you’m lucky.

Twitter tipster Wario 64 has learned from a Sony registration page that allows US gamers with PSN IDs to sign up for an e-mail invitation to pre-order for the majority of the public. The company did not say how many people it will choose or exactly what your odds will increase, but it does choose people based on “past interests and PlayStation activities.”

If selected, you will pre-order one PS5 (regular or digital edition) and up to two each of Sony accessories such as DualSense controllers, charging stations, Pulse 3D headsets, media remotes and cameras. The order window has an expiration date, and pre-orders will be on a first-come, first-served basis – you are not guaranteed to get one, even if you are invited.

It may be worthwhile for you to sign up. While it is not certain how many PS5 units will be available this holiday season, Sony has warned that “limited quantities and high demand” will come into play. You do not have to compete with the wider audience for units that can be easily sold out.

However, Sony has not yet committed to pricing or a launch date. While the company has not said why, many believe it will remain silent on PS5 launch details to prevent Microsoft from selling the Xbox Series X at a lower (or at least more competitive) price. Until one of the edges flashes, this registration page can be as close as you put money on Sony’s next-gen console.
