Sony is starting to invite PS5 pre-orders only

But platform holder does not yet offer any indication of release date or price

Sony has opened pre-orders for PlayStation 5, but there are restrictions.

The most prominent is that prior to pre-orders will be offered by invitation only.

The platform owner said it would send invitations to a limited number of PSN users who register through the site “based on past interests and PlayStation activities.”

These users will have a limited time to place their pre-order, and there will be restrictions on what they can purchase.

Customers will only be able to pre-order one PS5 console, or a digital or disk-based model. They can pre-order accessories – controllers, charging stations, headsets, etc. – but only a maximum of two of each item.

Pre-orders will be based on first come, first served and there is limited quantity, so not everyone who receives an invitation is guaranteed a console.

Ultimately, this is currently a sole initiative for FS. All orders with a non US based address will be canceled.

There is still no information on how much the PS5 will cost, as when it will be released.

However, Eric Lempel of Sony recently assured us that “we will start this year – that will happen.”

GamesIndustry.biz has reached PlayStation for more information on the restrictions.
