Something strange is producing a ton of radiation from the core of our galaxy – BGR

  • Scientists are trying to reduce the potential sources of gamma radiation coming from the center of the galaxy.
  • The latest research eliminates the possibility that radiation is coming from the destruction of dark matter.
  • Going forward, additional research will be needed to further narrow down potential sources.

In space, size is relative. Earth is vast… unless you look at Jupiter. The same is true for our solar system, which cools your home galaxy, the stars and planets in the galaxy until you think about how big it looks. We think most of us know what’s going on in our tiny galaxy neighborhood, but some secrets have yet to come out.

One such mystery is a strange radiation source near the center of the galaxy. Scientists believe that a supermassive black hole is sitting near the center of the galaxy – and this is true of most galaxies, or so the theory goes – but there is something else nearby that produces full energy radiation in the form of radiation. What is this Well, we don’t know yet, but a new study has helped prove what it is not.

In a new paper published in the journal Physical Review d, A research team led by the University of California, Berkeley, explains that one of the most popular theories about energy sources seems to have been debunked. According to the researchers, the idea that radiation is the result of black matter, erupted by intense activity near the galactic center, does not capture water.

Using the wealth of data collected, the researchers manipulated the numbers and said that mathematics does not just increase, denying the possibility that gamma rays were not emitted from the galactic center, “by large particles in weak contact,” which scientists believe is dark. Makes the substance.

“In many models, these particles are 10 to 1000 times the mass of a proton, in which larger particles are theoretically less attractive as particles of dark matter,” study co-author Manoj Kling Linghath said in a statement. Kap Linging said in a statement. “In this paper, we are removing the candidates of Dark Matter on the favorites range, which is a major improvement in the barrier we put on the possibilities that these are representative of dark objects.”

Now, it is important to note that there is still a ton that we do not know about dark matter. Scientists believe that it exists because it will be the missing part of most accepted calculations regarding the universe, its expansion and the force of gravity operating in deep space. The researchers accounted for a wide range of “dark matter candidates” to examine the wide range of compatibility of their tested metals.

So, so far, we still don’t know the cause of all the radiation around the galaxy, but at least now scientists are less likely to consider it.
