I’m envious of taking a position on “Avengers Defender” before I release here, because I have no idea what the final product will look like, but overall I’ve enjoyed my time with the beta, and i think the game might get a little too much hate and too many people watching what it’s just getting.
And what is that? The character kits, for one.
I’ve heard that some people complain about the game feeling too ‘pretty musically’, but I think that once you are equal, unlock more combos and understand how the different systems interact, you get some impressive and really enjoyable gameplay may find that you feel immediately excluded from the movies at times.
Here to demonstrate that this is a YouTuber, I found via reddit with the name GamebreakerGod, whose specialty turns out to be really, really good at stylish combat in a host of games from God of War to Ghost of Tsushima so far, Avengers.
Here, he demonstrates some crazy combos for Iron Man, and shows what the national anthem’s adjacent character can do once you understand his full range of powers (and remember that this is just a single skill tree). These environments are also naked because it is a combat “test room” challenge, not an actual level.
He also played Black Widow, who has some of the more elaborate movesets in the game, given her grappling hook and focus on hand to combat.
So far he has not done Kamala or Hulk, and maybe the beta ended before he could fully film anything. But it’s starting up again this Friday, so maybe he’s back for more. I’ll say Hulk makes him a little fuller than the others, but I mean, he’s Hulk. Kamala meanwhile has some of the coolest, hardest hitting combos in the game. I would be really curious to see what this guy can do with the full kits of Thor and Captain America with their throwable hammer and shield respectively.
Again, I can not promise that Avengers will be good in the final form, and I can already see that a number of issues are fixed. But I really enjoyed combat and these character kits, which I think these heroes are proud of, and yes, I would love to play with 24 different Marvel heroes over time, if the add-on list ends with justice.
The next beta starts Friday and will be open to everyone on all platforms at all times. The game itself is barely two weeks away from launch, and seems to be one of the few major titles that management will not be postponing until the fall.
