Some Alabama Soccer Recruitment Notes

The Brockermeyer engagement news on Friday may have been the start of a great 10-day period for Alabama from a recruiting standpoint.

After getting those high-ranking twin offensive linemen, Crimson Tide is now in a position to potentially add two more high-profile engagements in the next week or so.

Here’s what we’re hearing about that plus a couple of additional Tide recruiting notes:

– An elite Alabama offensive line class may improve further on Sunday. Top-level four-star offensive guard Terrence Ferguson will make his engagement announcement Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. The last comment we have gathered is that Alabama appears to have a good opportunity to achieve its commitment. The 6-foot-4-inch, 300-pound Georgia native is ranked as the second-best offensive guard and 47th-best overall prospect in the recruiting class of 2021, as ranked by 247Sports Composite. If the Tide lands with Ferguson, his offensive line class will consist of two five-star offensive tackles (Tommy Brockermeyer and JC Latham), the nation’s top-ranked center (James Brockermeyer) and the No. 2 offensive guard prospect of the nation (Ferguson).

– The other big name to look out for next week is Michigan’s five-star defensive tackle Damon Payne, who will announce his engagement on July 26. While Payne is known for being a tough guy to read, it seems like the tide is in a solid position here heading into next week. The decision is said to be in Alabama and the state of Arizona. The 6-foot-4-inch, 295-pound Payne is ranked as the best defensive tackle and No. 15 overall prospect in the 2021 class, according to those 247 composite rankings.

– With the Brockermeyers’ pledge, Alabama climbed to No. 6 on the Compound Team 247 Recruitment Rankings. Only the state of Ohio has gotten more five-star pledges right now than Tide. The Buckeyes have four, while Alabama has three. No one else has more than one.

– Tide Closed End Coach Jeff Banks climbed to number 14 nationally in the 247th Recruiters Ranking for 2021 after leading Alabama in recruiting four-time Texas linebacker Kendrick Blackshire, who promised to Tide on Tuesday. Running coach, Charles Huff, still ranks # 1 nationally in those 247 recruiter rankings.
