“America’s Got Talent” was almost a judge.
“Unfortunately, Heidi Klum is wrong and she couldn’t be here today,” host Terry Crews announced at the top of Tuesday’s episode.
The supermodel abandoned last week’s auditions, which were recorded in March, saying she was “feeling feverish” and experiencing “chills,” “coughs,” and “runny nose,” all symptoms consistent with the coronavirus. Although Klum struggled to get tested, she later tested negative for COVID-19.
But Sophia Vergara came to the rescue and “was able to pull some threads,” added Crews. She called her “Modern Family” co-star Eric Stonestreet to replace Klum.
“My new family and my old family together,” said Vergara.

With all eyes on the contestants, the judges definitely did not see this act coming.
Rapper Chefboybonez surprised and scared the judges with his song “Poppin ‘”, but it was what he did with his eyeballs that really caught everyone’s attention.
“We’re going to blow it up right now,” he hit in front of the judges’ table before taking his eyes from their sockets, surprising Vergara directly from his seat.
“I can not look!” Stonestreet screamed. “They’re still out! Put them back!”
The Colombian star pressed her red bell and escaped Chefboybonez’s overwhelming act. During her crazy run, Vergara tripped on her high heels and fell back into the audience, watching the rest of her performance from a distance.

“I’ve never seen anything more horrible,” said Vergara. “You’re going to hurt yourself. How was I the only one who gave him an X?”
“I think there is a market for this,” said Simon Cowell. “I always say this: without acts like you, we don’t exist. So I’m going to start with a yes (vote).”
Howie Mandel voted “yes” and Vergara clearly voted “no”. The decision on whether Chefboybonez advanced to the next round boiled down to a speechless Stonestreet.
“Eric, don’t betray me,” Vergara implored her former co-worker. Stonestreet joked, “This is ridiculous. I don’t deserve this. Heidi deserves this.”

“I’ll tell you what,” added Stonestreet. “This is probably the only day that I’m going to be here this season, so I’m going to torture the rest of you with a ‘yes.'”
Chefboybonez jumped for joy after advancing and made a celebratory bundle to Vergara’s horror.
He is “a ballet player, an eye player,” Mandel joked.
