Rising rap star Chika added an unexpected but unbelievable welcome, guest to a recent Insagram Live: Snoop Dogg. And she’s still reeling in the wake of the pure moment that was her virtual meeting.
“What’s the f —, Snoop in here?” she once said she noticed he was watching her stream. “What’s up? What are you doing? Now I feel like I have to do something entertaining. I just sat here and shit, dumb. But I can smoke in your honor. You want me to roll up? I can do that. and play some music. “
She asked Snoop why he did not just join her live and add him, and the quarantine period conversation quickly flowed.
“When I came, you knew me. Your people told you they were. ‘Snoop, Uncle Snoop was here!’ Said Snoop to her.
“I’m here to give you flowers,” he announced. “I’m here to tell you I’m f — with your music. I love your shit. I play it. I enjoy it. I wanted to tell you that. I did not want you to hear it. I want to. that you may hear it from me, from the mouth of the Dogg. “
“That touches my heart … as a coveted weed smoker and also as someone who enjoys your music, I think it means hearing so much. I let you know that. And I’m I will give you flowers for something you have done for the culture. N —– as I probably would not exist if you did not have that. So, I take that, I get it, I internal, too – you already know that you are a f — a legend, a real goddamn pillar in our community, ‘Chika, who looked overwhelmed, replied.
Their conversation revolved mostly around music, culminating in an agreement to collaborate after Snoop asked her to write a song for him.
“About what? It depends. I mean, the answer is yes, duh. But also, about what?” Frege Chika.
“As a writer, myself, when I get a job writing for someone, I like to study what they have written and what they have done and what they have not done. I try to give them a piece of themselves that they have never tackled. have because they can not see themselves as well as I can them, “said Snoop.
So what can fans expect from this unplanned partnership?
“I’m writing you a country song. It’s going to be a black country song,” Chika promised.
“Make it work,” Snoop said. “You will do what you do.”
“Southern rap,” said Alabama-born Chika, “that differs differently. It’s a different atmosphere. It’s a completely different atmosphere. I’m down for the challenge … This is going to be some hip-hop country shit.”
“We’re going to mesh. We’re going to work this shit out,” he said.
Snoop also said that Chika reminded him of his daughter – “your tone, your temperament, your conversation, the way you behave” – and told, for fun, the story of the first time he smoked, in the 1970s: “I was a little donkey kid,” he admitted.
“How old were you when you first smoked?” Chika surprised him.
“Like 7 or 8,” Snoop said.
