Salt Lake City – Smith’s food and drug stores in Utah are in line to operate once the COVID-19 vaccine becomes widely available. Kroger, Smith’s parent company, announced Tuesday that it is partnering with state health departments and the federal government to provide vaccines to residents of Utah and across the country.
“Our team of healthcare professionals is actively preparing for the authorization of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Brianna Martindale, Smith’s Corporate Corporate Affairs Manager.
In a statement, Kroger said he was not a U.S. citizen. The Food and Drug Administration will carry an authorized vaccine, and the company will follow a federal roll-out plan. However, it was not clear when Smith would be vaccinated. “As soon as possible, Smith is expected to be vaccinated,” Martindale told KSL News Radio.
Martinder said Kroger would only give the FDA-certified COVID-19 vaccine. Once available, the vaccine will be available at Smith’s locations across the state.
Currently, only the Pfizer-Biotech COVID-19 vaccine has been authorized by the FDA for emergency use. While the FDA has reported that Moderna’s shot is 94.1% effective, it is still not authorized to vaccinate

“At Smith’s time, we are committed to helping people live healthier lives. In partnership with the city and the county’s health department, to provide Covid-19 free drive, we are committed to participating in the community to prevent the spread of the virus,” Martindale said.
In Utah, Smith partnered with the governor’s office and the Utah Department of Health to organize a one-day drive-through Seaweed-19 test site at the Maverick Center.
In addition, Smith offers a quick antibody test of પર 25 at all Smith locations in Utah with pharmacies. Antibody results are usually available within 15 minutes.
