Smash Bros. Explain the DLC character of Ultimate: how to watch and start time


Nintendo will today announce the next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The unveiling will come via a short video presentation that will premiere today, October 1, at 7 a.m. PT / 10 AM ET. At the time of this writing it is less than half an hour apart, and you can watch the video as it descends.

According to Nintendo, the presentation will only last about three minutes, and will be followed by a “brief message” from game director Masahiro Sakurai, so it looks like we won’t get our usual deep-dive on the new fighter. Yet. There is no word on whether there will be an extra flow to go into more detail or whether a new fighter will be added to the game later.

The short event begins on Wednesday, October 1 at the following times:

  • US: 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET
  • UK: 3 PM BST
  • AU: 12 AM AET (2 October October)

What we know

Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters will mark this second DLC fighter coming from the pass volume. 2. The first of the Arms, Mean Mean, was added to the game back in June. Fighters Pass Volume 2 will add a total of six new characters to the game, so there are at least four more to follow after the new fighter tomorrow. The Fighters Pass Volume 2 costs 30.

According to sports analyst Daniel Ahmed, who has properly teased and disclosed information in the past, this will not be a first-party character, meaning it will not be another addition from the Fire Emblem series, as some have jokingly suggested. Ahmed also noted that it was unusual for dataminars to receive no new clues as to who the new fighter is.

As the Smash Brothers say its name, this is a smaller version of the classic battlefield stage, making for a much tighter field. You can also play any music track from other stages on the level.

Nintendo has recently held a number of other video presentations. Earlier this month, the company aired a live presentation dedicated to Mario’s 35th birthday. This was followed by another Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, in which Nintendo and Capcom unveiled two new Monster Hunter games for the Switch: Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories.
