THE ADS WANTED TO PLAY. It makes sense that the Big Ten’s decision to focus its fall athletic season went against the wishes of every athletic director at the conference. It also makes sense that Gene Smith was one of the strongest proponents of playing a fall season.
But it does not make sense that Kevin Warren – who was notary in favor of moving the season to early spring – put himself in a position to represent those athletic directors in talks with the presidents.
… presidents and chancellors were not in the same Zoom meetings as athletic directors. Athletic directors were also not in the same Zoom meetings as medical staff. Seasonal athletic veterans such as Moos, Wisconsin’s Barry Alvarez, Penny’s Sandy Barbour and Ohio State’s Gene Smith were left out of important discussions that shaped the league’s decisions.
Instead, first-year Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren was present at those meetings as the voice of the athletic directors.
Warren, for example, was aware that every athletic director of Big Ten was in favor of a fall football season. Moos said the ADs, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan were pushing the hardest, but there was unanimous agreement, Moos said, in play.
“He knew where we were going, and he was the messenger for the presidents and chancellors,” Moos said.

Nebraska temporarily lost a lot in the Big Ten decision. Ohio State may have lost even more.
“I think Ohio State had a chance to win the national championship,” Moos said. ‘Gene (Smith) even said,’ I will cut back on hunting: I have a national championship champion here. ‘ And they will not do that now. I don’t know if her fans were as firm about the season; I would guess they were.
‘I see where he’s coming from, and he’s an ally of ours in really hammering home autumn season play and how things turned out, and all that. He continues to be. ”
So in principle, Warren made what could be the biggest final decision in the history of the Big Ten conference, without even communicating with everyone in one conversation. Cool, cool, cool.

Regardless of his decision or even one of the bot communication and transparency, the fact that he was blissfully unaware that Midwesterners value high school football more than their own well-being would be a burning misdemeanor. You can not represent a customer base that you do not even know.
“One more shot.” Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson is 0-2 against Ohio State and has seen his team add 118 combined points in just two games.
And now he’s saddened that he’s not going to meet that juggernaut again this year.
“One more. One more. I just want one more shot at her. You know, Ryan Day, Justin Fields, I saw her quotes on Twitter about not shaking off our brakes. You do not know how much that rolls me and I’m just, I want to play them one more time. But, you know, it’s out of my hands whether I can or not. So, I just hope and pray I have one more shot at it. ”
The good news is, the season has been postponed, but the rivalry has not been canceled. I do not know when, and I do not know who the quarterback will be, but you will get your sidewalk stump, just be patient.
