As you celebrate this weekend, pay attention to my wise advice this weekend: drink various spirits and explode. Also, stay safe.
Word of the day: Agog.
CALLING YOUR SHOT. Ohio State had half of the Heisman Trophy finalists this year, and from one Heisman finalist to another, Chase Young believes the trophy will return to Columbus this year.
“I couldn’t do it alone, so I just commend everyone for sticking with me.” @ OhioStateFB great @ youngchase907 talks to @BTNRickPizzo about being a unanimous choice for the #BTNAllDecade team.

I have to admit that I personally invested in a Drue Chrisman Heisman campaign, but I think I’d settle for Justin Fields if the need arises. Whenever it comes with a natty.
READY OR NOT. In the past few months, we’ve heard whispers and conjectures about a spring college football season if the very serious virus doesn’t allow football to be played in the fall.
The only problem is, with the NFL Draft in April, you may have more of some of the strongest stars in college football, like Justin Fields or Shaun Wade, who decide to skip the season and go straight to the draft.
And the NFL doesn’t sound too much to fix the problem.
A nugget that I picked up today. College football officials have quietly asked the NFL if they would be willing to delay the 2021 draft in the event of a spring season. As expected, the NFL is not interested

Here’s the thing, this isn’t really a problem until it is, so until then, I’ll carry on with my life as if the football season is happening as planned. I will reserve my stress for when I need it officially.
I HATE “INSTALLING”. Ohio State has created a complete brand by hating Michigan, and it seems that they have finally found out that they have to catch up.
“That’s something we’ve talked about,” said Paye. “Some of the team leaders on defense, simply enforcing that hatred much more. Every time I turn on that game, I feel like sometimes we hate them, but I feel like we have to apply it, we have to install it like freshmen are coming in, we have to install it. “We hate those guys.” There can (not) be, ‘Oh, my son is going to that school, so I’m …’ No, I hate that. Just enforce that to get into your brain. Watch game tapes every day on them. Making sure we know all of her plays. Making sure to watch past games. Just making sure we’re (ready).
“After every Saturday when we finish our game, I turn on a TV to watch the state of Ohio and make sure I see what they do every Saturday.”
That’s fine and well, but here’s the problem: As the marker for every November, you’re already behind. Young Ohio State players don’t need that “installed” hatred as freshmen, they’ve been wetting your ass since before they hit campus.
But hey, if the goal is to make the game a little more competitive than in the past two years, I’m in favor. Just don’t set those hopes too high.
HARD LUCK GETS TOGETHER This was already the worst season imaginable to try to make a team as a non-recruited free agent with professional days and training canceled, nonexistent rookie minicamps and the preseason likely cut in half.
But it looks like it’s going to get even worse.
In an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus, NFL teams are likely to bring fewer than the 90 regular players they normally bring to training camp each time it starts, according to league sources.
One source said he believed the teams are likely to go to camp with a list of 80 men, and another source said that “they are definitely not 90.” A third league source said that “he has heard a lot of discussion about potentially 75 players instead of 90,” especially with the reduction in preseason games and teams that don’t need as many players for camp as usual.
It seems like every year there’s an undrafted or off-the-radar Buckeye that stuns everyone and makes a list of 53 men, but it looks like those opportunities aren’t going to exist this season, and that sucks.
Prayers for guys like Robert Landers and Branden Bowen, because God knows they’d make some noise if they had a chance.
NEVER FORGET. Dwayne Haskins’ time in the state of Ohio was just two years ago, but it was so unfathomable that it already begins to sound like a damn mythology.
I mean, what is my brain supposed to do with this?
Dwayne Haskins started in the state of Ohio for one season.
All-time Ohio State leaders for passing yards in a single game:
Dwayne Haskins (499)
Dwayne Haskins (470)

I’m going to have to explain that season to my children one day and, in the best possible way, I’m not sure I can do it in depth.
