A shooting at a nightclub in Gastonia, North Carolina, late Thursday night left six people injured, including two officers, police said.
Police in Gastonia said on Friday that two officers were on duty at the Remedies nightclub, about 30 minutes west of Charlotte, when the shooting began at 11 p.m.
Officers did not specify the reason behind the altercation, but both officers intervened and tried to break it, which resulted in inexperienced injuries as they proceeded to the shooting, police said.
Four other victims sustained unintentional injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital, police said.
Police said two suspects, identified as Alonso Lewis Hamilton and Alan Slaughter, were arrested in connection with the shooting. According to police, the two were charged with six counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
