Six Northern Nevada companies fined for not following COVID-19 rules


RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -The Nevada Industrial Relations Division announced Thursday that seven Nevada businesses, six of them in northern Nevada, were fined a total of $ 56,609 for failing to follow rules to limit the spread of COVID-19 .

In addition to the quote, companies were warned that continued violations could cause the state to shut them down.

Details of the violations were not disclosed.

“The citations were issued after officials observed non-compliance with one or more requirements of the general and industry-specific guidelines and guidelines during the initial observation and a follow-up visit,” the Industrial Relations Division said in a statement. “Employers received a notice and request for compliance during the first visit. Noting continued noncompliance during a follow-up visit, a formal investigation was opened with the employer. ”

RAC Guns & Ammo did not have an immediate response, but said it could respond later. The Home Depot and Grocery Outlet did not comment. Walmart did not immediately respond to a request for comment. No one answered the phone on the Winco.

Walmart announced a nationwide policy to require masks for customers at its store.

Officials from the Industrial Relations Division visited 2,257 Nevada companies to verify compliance with COVID-19 standards. As of July 15, the overall compliance rate for all business sectors across the state was 82 percent, with a compliance rate of 86 percent in northern Nevada and 80 percent in the south.
