Simon Cowell gives his seal of approval to Kelly Clarkson after the American idol champion filled for the former Idol judge on America’s Got Talent Tuesday. Cowell’s serious back injury and surgery put the reality hostel aside and left him paralyzed almost over the weekend. Luckily, Clarkson was there to fill the place, and the America’s Got Talent judge and executive producer took to Twitter Wednesday morning to praise her performance and share how much he misses co-judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara.
By directly thanking Clarkson for stepping up at the last minute, Cowell called Tuesday’s performances a ‘great show’, which as fans of the serious NBC league is highly praised by the British entertainment mogul. His message was met with wishes for the health of his followers, who all seemed to appreciate Clarkson’s temporary judgmental role.

“I missed you on last night’s show. You absolutely chose a very great stand in,” one person tweeted. “I look forward to your return and I pray for your healing, Mr. Simon, sir!” Other chimed in, “Do you miss Simon on EIGHT of last night !!! Come back soon & hurry up … and yes, it was a good show I laughed and yelled at !!! And Miss Kelly Clarkson filling in was perfect !!! “
Cowell suffered a devastating back injury on Saturday while testing a new electric bike at his home in Malibu, California. After falling off the bike, Cowell nearly broke his spinal cord, reporting that he was missing because he was lame. He was driven into surgery and sat in the operating room for six hours before doctors advised him in recovery. He will also miss the live taping of America’s Got Talent on Wednesday, and his official return date has not yet been confirmed.
Sunday night, Cowell tweeted that he should have read the manual before jumping on the high-powered bike. “I have broken a part of my back. Thank you everyone for your kind messages,” he wrote at the time. “And a big thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Stay safe everyone. Simon.”
On Monday, Clarkson was announced as his replacement, sharing on their own social media sites, “My friend, Simon Cowell, is doing better now, but was in an accident and will not be able to make the Tuesday and Wednesday live shows for AGT. But no worries for America, someone far wiser, cooler, and hotter takes his seat! The unusually great Kelly Clarkson. You are most welcome! “
