Signing up for a Texas restaurant is threatened with a 50 fee ‘if I have to explain why the mask is mandatory’



There is a sign Tongue-in-cheek, but the couple did it in the name of protecting their customers and employees.

“Our new surcharge,” the sign reads.

“$ 75 – If I Have to Hear Why You Disagree …”

Wayne LaCobe told CNN that he came up with the idea after seeing the same sign line.

“I thought, ‘Oh, that’s funny. I put it on because it conveys the message,'” he said. “And not five minutes after I put it on, the customers who came in were smiling and taking photos of it.”

To draw the message home, one of their servers, an art student, painted a masked woman on a restaurant window with a caption saying the mask was respectable, not political.

Effective March 10, government Greg Abbott lifted the ban on the spread of Covid-19, including removing the requirement for masks and allowing all businesses to reopen 100%. Abbott did so because active Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations were below unseen levels in months.

Critics of the decision said that by avoiding a small percentage of the number of vaccinated Texans at the time and spreading the types of the virus, it has happened too soon.

Lakobe said he and his wife have received the first dose of the vaccine, but many of their staff have not yet been vaccinated.

Rest restaurant rent tables are at a distance, they have reduced capacity, employees wear masks and wash their hands between going to each table and take everyone’s temperature before they enter the building. There is also a hand sanitizer on each table.

He said two couples arrived on Friday and told him they had eaten for the first time at a restaurant restaurant rent since the epidemic began.

“All we’re saying is that customers wear masks when they pass by someone else who eats and doesn’t wear a mask,” he wrote. “It doesn’t seem like much to ask for sure … but obviously it is.”

Lacombs opened their restaurant in October 2019 and had to close for two months due to the epidemic.

Wayne LaCobe said he was not sure the business would survive if they had to close again.

“We have races that we haven’t finished, and our business comes down when the numbers grow,” he said. “So yes, it’s very urgent that we keep the numbers down.”
