SF Giants’ Farhan Zaidi criticizes Arizona City Councilman for mocking George Floyd: “I mean, f – k that guy”

San Francisco Giants team president Farhan Zaidi criticized an Arizona city councilman who mocked George Floyd at an anti-mask rally.

Scottsdale City Council member Guy Phillips called on Floyd at a rally on Wednesday. He chanted “I can’t breathe!” before removing the mask. It led a crowd of about 200 protesters who staged an anti-mask rally as the state observed an increase in coronavirus numbers.

Zaidi, whose team has a spring training center in Scottsdale, didn’t bother to talk about Phillips in an interview with The Athletic.

“I mean, fk that guy,” he told the store. “You can quote me about it. Damn, that guy.

While Phillips issued an apology, Zaidi said he had not purchased it.

“I think anyone would have a hard time overcoming the abominable callousness of his statement,” Zaidi told The Athletic. “But even if you can go beyond that, the fact that this guy is tolerating behavior that puts our staff and players at risk? As serious. F – k that guy. I can’t believe that guy is a public official in this country. Is incredible.”

Zaidi added that there could be some impact on Phillips’ comment.

“I don’t know how you can see that and not be angry about it,” he said. “And angry may be too simple a term. As for what recourse we have, I don’t want to talk about it. But I’m fucking mad about that. And I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that. “
